The PC can’t find my phone
- Make sure the phone and PC are on the same network, and the NovaCam app is open on the phone.
- Press Scan network in NovaCam Desktop, or type the phone’s IP (shown in the app) and press Go.
- If you did not install the driver as administrator, run
install_driver.batagain. It also opens the firewall for discovery. - Prefer a cable? Run
setup_adb.batonce, turn on USB debugging on the phone, plug it in and press USB.
It asks for a PIN
The PIN is shown in the NovaCam phone app, in the dark info card. Enter it in NovaCam Desktop once; it is remembered. You can change it from the phone with Change PIN, and then enter the new one on the PC. After several wrong tries the phone blocks that computer for a minute, so wait and try again.
“NovaCam” isn’t in my camera list
- Start NovaCam Desktop before opening OBS, Zoom or Chrome, then restart the app if it was already open.
- Changing resolution or FPS recreates the camera. Select NovaCam again in your app.
- The Windows Camera app and the new Microsoft Teams may not list NovaCam. Use OBS, Zoom, Discord or a browser instead.
The picture is sideways or too zoomed in
NovaCam follows your phone’s rotation. Hold it in portrait or landscape and the preview turns with it. Use the Zoom buttons on the phone (the 0.5× button appears on phones that offer a wide lens). In portrait, the 16:9 stream shows the middle part of the frame; landscape shows the full width.
The background effect stops
When the battery temperature gets high, the app pauses the effect and shows a note under the Background menu. It resumes when the phone cools. Unplug the charger, switch on Battery Saver or hide the preview (eye button) to run cooler.
Remove NovaCam
On Windows run uninstall_driver.bat. On the phone, uninstall the app as usual.
Send us a log
If NovaCam Desktop has a problem, a file called novacam_error.log appears next to NovaCam.exe. Attach it to your email.
