NovaCam (Android) and NovaCam Desktop (Windows) · Effective November 7, 2026
Who we are
NovaCam is made by hamzadaoud, an individual developer. Contact: hamzadaoudbn@gmail.com.
What the apps do with your data
- Camera. The Android app uses the camera to capture video and stream it to your computer. The video is not recorded or saved by the app and is not sent to us. The app does not use the microphone.
- Local network and USB. The phone runs a small web server on port 8080 that your computer connects to, and it announces its presence (phone model name and port) with a broadcast on your local network so NovaCam Desktop can find it. With USB, the same connection is carried over the cable. This traffic stays on your local network or USB connection.
- Background effects. Blur, green screen and black background use Google’s ML Kit selfie segmentation, which runs on your phone. Frames are not uploaded for this feature.
- Battery and temperature. The app reads the phone’s battery level and temperature to protect it from overheating. These readings are shown in the apps and are not sent to us.
- Settings. Your stream settings and your stream PIN are stored on your phone in the app’s private storage. NovaCam Desktop stores the PIN you enter in a small file on your computer (
%APPDATA%\NovaCam\config.json). You can delete it any time. - NovaCam Desktop only talks to your phone on your network. It does not send any data to us or to anyone else.
Ads (Android app)
The Android app shows a banner ad served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, prevent fraud and provide analytics, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and use data such as your device’s advertising ID and other device identifiers, your IP address (which can indicate your approximate location), app interactions such as taps and launches, and diagnostic information about the app’s performance. This data is handled by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses data in ads.
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and certain US states) the app asks for your choice through Google’s consent form before ads are requested. You can change that choice later with the “Privacy settings” button on the app’s Info screen when it is shown. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
Google ML Kit
The app uses the ML Kit SDK from Google for on-device person detection. ML Kit may send limited technical information, such as performance or usage metrics, to Google. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with anyone, except that Google receives the advertising-related data described above through the ads SDK.
Security
The stream and the remote controls require a PIN, and an address that guesses wrong several times in a row is blocked for a minute. The connection between your phone and your computer uses plain HTTP on your local network and is not encrypted, so use it on networks you trust, or use USB.
Keeping and deleting data
We hold none of your data. Uninstalling the Android app removes its settings and PIN from the phone. For NovaCam Desktop, delete its folder and the config file mentioned above. Advertising data is held by Google; use your Android advertising ID settings and Google’s controls to manage it.
Children
NovaCam is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you have a question or a request about privacy, email hamzadaoudbn@gmail.com. For data held by Google, you can use Google’s privacy tools.
Changes to this policy
If the apps change in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
